Ike’s heart was beating fast; he was hugging the boy he just realized, loved. Link blushed. He felt good letting Ike hug him. Comfort him. But he broke it.

“Maybe we should leave now” Link stood up. Surprisingly Ike didn’t let go of him as he expected “Ike? Is there something wrong?” Ike’s face was buried on Link’s shoulder, he didn’t want to let go, his grip on Link’s small figure tightening.

“You make me happy” Those words made Link shiver. He hugged Ike back, soon noticing how his shoulder felt wet. Ike was crying! Link didn’t know what to do. Why would this man could be crying? He seemed so strong and brave. Ike’s words were still present on Link’s head.

“Ike… Why are you crying? There is no reason to…” Link took Ike’s face with both hands, making the boy look at him. Ike’s cheeks were red and wet. The look on his eyes was soft. He wasn’t smiling, but Link felt somehow that Ike wasn’t crying for being sad. It was the opposite thing. He was happy.

“It’s nothing…” Ike smiled; drying his teas with the back of his hand “I just realized something really important” He wasn’t looking at Link, even though the Hylian was holding his face with both hands. Ike felt how the blood rushed to his cheeks making him blush. His face was near Link’s, and he seemed to have no idea of what that could mean because he was giving a really worried look to Ike “Link we should get going, I bet this will be a nice day” Ike walked toward Epona “do you mind if I go with you?” Ike was trying to tease Link, so the boy would get all happy and playful again. He wanted to enjoy this day, because maybe they wouldn’t have another chance.

“Not at all!” Link laughed, and with one jump he climbed into Epona’s back “Come on Ike, sit behind me and hold tight” Ike did as he was told. He was a bit scared, but tried not to show it. He knew Link wouldn’t let him fall.

“I’m ready Link” Ike hugged Link’s waist tight.

“Good! Let’s go Ike!” Link laughed and made a signal to Epona. The horse got it and dashed toward the exit of the stables. They got to see Link’s ‘favorite’ annoying guards. But Link wasn’t up for jokes and laughs toward him and Ike so he passed them as fast as he could. Leaving the guards wondering.

“That was Link right?” Said the tallest one, looking at his partner.

“Yes…” The other one was looking at how they ran away “I think he is going on a date with his boyfriend” They both laughed.

“You mean that Crimean whore we took to the dungeons weeks ago? Yeah! We should talk with Link later” They both started laughing again.

The laugh died soon when both felt a hand touch their shoulders.  

Princes Marth was standing right behind them with a not so happy face. The guards froze.

“Excuse me Sirs… but wasn’t that Link?” Marth spoke in a soft yet so scaring voice. Frowning at apparently doesn’t getting a reply. What made the guars more that scared “Wasn’t it your work to stop him!?” Marth was yelling now “Why do I settle guards here if they let people pass just like that? Hm?” Marth was pissed; he had his chance to get Link and Ike. Just if those stupid guards could have got to stop them.

“P-prince Marth we…. We are really sorry… It w-was Link s-so we thought t-that m-maybe” The taller guard dared to speak but he was silenced by Marth’s yells.

“Nothing! It was your work! Now Idiots If Link comes back be sure to stop him and call me! Or else your heads will be hanging on a cell in the dungeon as a decorative!!” Marth turned around. He was really angry. He hopped Link would come back home untouched by the mercenary. Ike was so getting punished for this. And maybe Link too, but just in a different way.




“Link! Slow down please!” Ike was practically clinging to Link. As Link passed trough the streets, people looked at them. Some laughed, others smiled, some of them waved at Link and other just ignored them. They were going slow now. Altean people seemed so nice to Ike. He smiled seeing the beautiful landscapes. The city was so alive.

“Do you like it?” Asked Link turning around to see Ike “Marth works so hard to protect his people… Ellis does too!” Link smiled, waving at some kids that were looking at him.

“Ellis? Who is that?” Ike was holding Link’s shoulders now that they weren’t going too fast.

“Oh! Ellis is Marth’s big sister… She is who rules the kingdom actually” Explained Link to Ike “She is our Queen, she is a really nice person”

Ike remained silent; he had nothing to say really.





Marth returned to the throne, he was in charge now that Ellis had to go somewhere else, he didn’t ask why since he was so busy with his private life. His thoughts about Link didn’t let him concentrate at all. When did he really fell for Link? It was a long time ago…

Marth remembered being a little kid, like a ten years old kid he guessed. He was busy as always playing on the gardens, when his father called him. They were receiving guests from Hyrule. Marth stood at his father’s side. The doors of the hall opened, and there was him.

Princess Zelda, who was still a little girl also, was walking toward the throne holding his father’s hand. At their side Altean guards following them. At princess Zelda’s side, was a blonde kid with long ears too, wearing a green outfit and followed by a little blue floating thingy. Or that’s what Marth thought of it.

When Marth saw how the kid looked he blushed, at the age he couldn’t realize it was love, But he just wanted to pass more time with him. Marth was really busy inspecting the boy, that he didn’t notice his father calling him.  

“Marth, why don’t you take princess Zelda and Link to the gardens to play for a bit while we talk… it may be a good time for you to make friends” Marth nodded. So, Link was his name.

The three kids were now on the gardens, Marth remembered how Link was always laughing and playing with such an enthusiasms. The prince had always liked to hug Link, ignoring the princess’s squeals.  

Link and Zelda stayed in Altea for some time, so Marth had friends with who he could play everyday. And he felt becoming closer to Link too. The Princess didn’t like going to explore or play as Link and Marth did, so she passed most of her time with Princess Ellis who was a bit older than her.

Marth also remembered when they plated to save the Princesses, Marth had insisted that Link should be the princess, at what Ellis and Zelda laughed but accepted. Link was so embarrassed because they made him wear one of Zelda’s dresses. Marth had defeated the two dragons who in fact were Zelda and Ellis. The girls laughed and yelled that now the Prince had to kiss the Princess, Link denied it, and he shook his head, he wasn’t going to kiss his best friend. Instead Marth sighed and kissed his cheek, making the poor Hylian blush crazily.

Those has been really good times, until Marth passed 7 years without knowing anything about Zelda or Link. What made him worried. His father died through that time. Suddenly then, Link was sent to Altea to be taken care of. Princess Zelda was who requested it. Marth was now 17, same as Link. Marth made Link his personal knight so they could become closer and they way he would be able to protect him too, Link was good with the sword after all.

A year passed since then. Now this Crimean came to ruin Marth’s life by taking Link away. Marth has always loved him. For 8 years he has been in love with Link, but it took time for him to admit it. And just when he decided that he was going to love Link and tell him everything, Ike had to come and take Link away. It really seemed like Link could fall for Ike. And he had no doubts that Ike had fallen for Link, just as Marth did years ago.

He knew he had to go for Link himself.





Ike and Link felt how their day passed fast, but it has been really funny. They went fishing, for a ride; Link taught Ike how to ride Epona, so Ike wasn’t scared of her anymore… But with other horses it was a different story. They played with the kids, who Ike had to admit, had lots of energy to play like that, he was exhausted. Now they were watching the sunset. Everything was turning a cute orange color because of the light. Ike liked it.

“It’s so pretty… Some time has passed since I saw a beautiful sunset” Link sat on the grass, resting his head on his left hand. Ike was looking at him. He wasn’t tired at all, amazing.

“Well now we can enjoy it together don’t you think?” Ike sat close to Link, enjoying the Hylian’s joy. They day was about to end. But he passed a great time with Link.

“Of course Ike” Link smiled kindly, just as Ike loved seeing him smile. Then unexpectedly by Ike Link rested his head on his shoulder, still watching the sunset, Ike blushed. They had a perfect sight; it was a bit far from the castle, from the limits to where Link was allowed to go. Anyway, some trees surrounded them, and they could see the sun starting to hide behind some distant mountains.

Ike felt the need to say something but he didn’t knew what. Panic was like invading him. He couldn’t find words, or any interesting thing to say. So he would just do what his heart told him to. He was scared though. It really took him some time.

“Link…” When the boy heard his name, he lifted his head to look at Ike. Link thought it was rater an odd look what Ike was giving him. It was not like he disliked it either.

“Ike…?” Link blushed. He suddenly felt the need to kiss Ike! But he couldn’t do it… he didn’t like Ike, did he? Then why was he thinking on that? It was awkward for the little Hylian boy to think that stuff. They were still looking at each other….

But both felt they couldn’t do it so both turned their heads around, looking at the floor and blushing.

Link was looking at a little flower that was starting to bloom.

Ike was looking just at the grass, wondering about what he was going to do seconds ago.

The sun disappeared completely behind the mountains, leaving both in a slightly dark place.
